How does each one clean?

Stanley Steemer says its method is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning. It also says it uses a truck-mounted system, IICRC-trained technicians and EPA Safer Choice cleaning products, and that it holds a Platinum rating from CRI.

Zerorez rinses with its own fluid. It describes Zr Water as an electrolyzed, ionized, alkalinized cleaning fluid that acts like a soap without harsh chemicals. It applies and rinses with the Zr Wand, an enclosed-system extraction wand. Zerorez of Minnesota calls its setup a Platinum Rated hot water extraction system.

That makes both of them extraction cleaners. The fluid is the main difference.

How long does each one say carpet takes to dry?

Zerorez says its typical dry time is between four and eight hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Stanley Steemer says it can take 8 to 24 hours for carpet to completely dry, depending on conditions, and typically 2 to 6 hours for upholstery.

Zerorez also says Zr Water gives it significantly improved dry times over competitors. That is the company's claim, and the real answer depends on your carpet, your humidity and your airflow.

A fan and the AC help with any method.

What counts as a room, and how is it priced?

Stanley Steemer says an area is typically a room up to 300 square feet (15 x 20), and room sizes may vary by location. It says bathrooms, hallways, entries and stairs are estimated separately. It also says it doesn't charge for moving furniture or environmental fees.

Zerorez says each franchise sets its own rates and typically charges per room, with a room usually about 200 to 250 square feet. Hallways, stairs, bathrooms and area rugs are priced differently.

For numbers, HomeGuide lists Stanley Steemer carpet cleaning at $125 to $143 per room, with a $125 minimum. It says one Protect or Deodorize treatment is free per cleaning, and getting both costs $18 more per room. HomeGuide shows no update date, so treat it as a rough guide. Stanley Steemer's Minneapolis page listed tile and dryer-vent promotions but no carpet price.

On Oct 30, 2026, Zerorez of Minnesota's site showed an October Offers banner for 3 rooms of carpet cleaned for $139. That is a three room offer, and HomeGuide's figure is a per room range from a third party, so don't line them up as if they match. Check with each company for your address, and ask for a written total with every area listed.

One more check before you book anyone. Zerorez's FAQ notes that most carpet makers call for hot water extraction every 12 to 18 months to maintain warranties. Read your own carpet's warranty first, because rules can differ by maker, and that goes for any method, ours included.

Is there a local third option?

This one is us, so weigh it that way. OxyMagic Carpet Cleaning is a locally owned Blaine, MN franchise of OxyMagic USA, owned by Bill and Daven Malark.

We use a low-moisture, hydrogen peroxide based clean. The cleaner is worked into the fibers and vacuums up once dry. Most carpets dry in an hour or two, depending on conditions. OxyMagic holds Green Seal and EPA Safer Choice certifications, and certifications describe a product, not the result on your carpet.

We serve 22 north metro cities, including Blaine, Coon Rapids, Ham Lake, Lino Lakes and Andover.

If you want a number to set beside the others, $129 covers two rooms, 12x12 or smaller, with spot treatment and deodorizer included. Our rooms are about 12 by 12, so compare full written totals and keep room size in mind. Text us a picture for a better quote. Everything is situational and could be less or more.

Call 763-213-6217, 8AM to 8PM every day, or text anytime.

How do you get a fair quote from all three?

Use the same ask with every company.

  • Give each one the same rooms, halls and stairs.
  • Ask how it defines a room, in square feet.
  • Ask how long your carpet will stay damp, and what a fan or the AC will change.
  • Ask for the full total in writing, with every area listed and any minimum.
  • Ask whether a special covers your number of rooms.
