What Is the Best Carpet Cleaning Method?
There isn't one best method for every carpet. Start with what your carpet maker recommends, then compare how each company cleans, how long it takes to dry and what it costs.
Short answer
It depends on your carpet. Hot water extraction rinses deep, and some carpet makers require it for their warranties. Our low-moisture clean uses less water and dries faster, and the cleaner vacuums right up once it's dry, so less soap stays behind. Check your warranty, then compare.

The main methods
- Hot water extraction (steam cleaning): rinses deep, uses more water, takes longer to dry
- Low-moisture cleaning (what we use): uses less water, vacuums up once dry, dries in an hour or two on most carpets
- Bonnet cleaning: a spinning pad on top of the carpet, mostly a surface clean
How to choose
Read your carpet warranty first, because some name hot water extraction. Then ask each company to explain its method, drying time and total price for the same rooms. OxyMagic uses a low-moisture, hydrogen peroxide based clean, and most carpets are dry in an hour or two.
